Terms & Conditions

Please read these carefully before booking

These Terms & Conditions govern your booking and stay with Laguna Holidays Malta ("we", "us", "our"). By confirming a booking you agree to be bound by these terms. If anything below is unclear, please contact us before paying — we'd rather sort it out up front than have a surprise on arrival.

1. Booking and deposit

A booking is confirmed once we have received your deposit (typically 25% of the total stay) and acknowledged it in writing. Until then, we reserve the right to release the dates. The remaining balance is due in full no later than 14 days before your check-in date, or on arrival for bookings made within 14 days of arrival.

2. Payment

Payments are processed in EUR via our payment provider Stripe. We accept all major debit and credit cards. We do not store your card details. Bank transfers are accepted for stays of seven nights or longer, on request.

3. Cancellation policy

Cancellations made more than 30 days before your check-in date will receive a full refund of the deposit. Between 14 and 30 days before check-in, the deposit is non-refundable but no further charges apply. Within 14 days of check-in, the full booking amount is non-refundable. We strongly recommend travel insurance.

If we are forced to cancel a booking due to circumstances beyond our control (force majeure, structural issues, etc.) you will receive a full refund — but no further compensation.

4. Check-in and check-out

Check-in is from 15:00 onwards (16:00 for Gozo properties). Check-out is by 11:00. Earlier check-ins and later check-outs may be possible by prior arrangement and are not guaranteed. A late check-out without arrangement may incur a half-day surcharge.

Before check-in you will be asked to complete an online check-in form: full name as on travel document, date of birth, travel document number, a photograph of the document, and acceptance of these terms. This is required for compliance with Maltese tourism authority registration.

5. House rules

The full house rules for each property are provided in the in-stay guidebook you receive after check-in. Common to all properties:

  • No smoking inside any apartment or building.

  • Quiet hours from 22:00 to 08:00.

  • No parties or events without prior written approval.

  • Maximum overnight occupancy is the number of beds in the apartment, unless otherwise agreed.

  • Pets are welcome at selected properties only and must be agreed in advance.

6. Damage deposit

For most properties we hold a refundable damage deposit of €250 — taken as a pre-authorisation on the card used to pay, never charged unless damage is reported. The pre-authorisation is released within 7 days of check-out. For larger properties or longer stays, the deposit may be higher and will be communicated up front.

7. Damage and loss

Please treat each property as you would your own home. Reasonable wear and tear is expected; significant damage, missing items, or excessive cleaning required will be charged from the damage deposit, with photographic evidence and an itemised invoice. Where damage exceeds the deposit, we may seek the additional sum from you directly.

8. City tax

The Maltese eco-contribution (city tax) of €0.50 per person per night, capped at €5 per person per stay, is mandatory under Maltese law and is collected separately from the booking total. It is normally settled with the balance.

9. Liability

We accept liability for damage to your property arising from our negligence in the routine maintenance of the apartment, up to the value of the booking. We are not liable for theft, loss, or damage to personal items, including those left in the apartment after check-out. Each apartment is fitted with a safe; please use it. We are not liable for the consequences of weather, disruption to flights or ferries, illness, or other events outside our control.

10. Pool and water safety

Where a property includes a pool, you are responsible for the safety of yourself and your party at all times. Children must be supervised. Pool gates must remain closed when not in use, in accordance with Maltese law. Diving, glass containers, and pool use after dark are not permitted unless otherwise indicated.

11. Complaints

If anything is wrong with your stay, please tell us during the stay — we'd much rather fix it on the spot. The host phone number is on every guidebook page; we usually respond within minutes during the day. Complaints raised after check-out are difficult to resolve and may not be considered.

12. Data protection (GDPR)

We process your personal data only for the purposes of administering your booking, fulfilling our legal obligations (tourism authority registration, payment record-keeping), and contacting you about your stay. We do not sell or share your data with third parties beyond our payment provider and our channel-management software. You have the right to request a copy of the data we hold about you, and to ask us to correct or delete it. Contact us at hello@lagunaholidays.mt.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably will be referred to the competent courts of Malta.
